ACT/SAT TestPrep

Standardized tests represent one of the most important components of the college application. To maximize your score it is critical to work with a tutor who not only understands standardized tests but the test related challenges individual students need to overcome.

The Wunder Method focuses on 3 key concepts that correlate to optimal test results:

  1. Knowledge of content
Different students struggle with different mathematical concepts found on the test. I make sure to identity what each individual student needs to work on and create a plan to ensure they're comfortable with that content before they take the test.

  2. Tricks of the test
Top scoring students use a set of "tricks" to ensure they're able to handle the unique style of questions.
Many of these "tricks" are centered around timing (making sure students finish the test before it times out) and consolidating the overwhelming amount of information. There are others too! I spend time working with students on the specific test taking strategies that will benefit them the most based on their learning style.

  3. Problem solving skills
Some students know almost all of the content found on standardized tests but get lost in the process of implementing it. SAT and ACT questions are often long and complicated. I work with students on the process of getting from the given information to the answer by planning for harder questions within an appropriate time frame.

Classwork Support

I care deeply about my students' success. My goal is to improve my students' grades which is best accomplished by teaching the student the material they don't understand, boosting their confidence in their own math abilities and hopefully making them passionate about math.

Some Success Stories

  • R. went from failing Algebra 1 in 8th grade to skipping a grade in math and getting an A in AP Precalc in 10th grade. He now wants to be an engineer.

  • M. was dissatisfied with his B in AP PreCalc AB in 10th grade and improved to an A in AP Calc AB working with Jonah for all of junior year.

  • Y. has ADHD and had tried working with tutors in the past but "hated" them. He “clicked” with Jonah and was able to learn all of 6th grade math over one summer to return to grade level.

There is no one way to teach math, and I am deeply curious about how different students learn. I will be happy to talk to you about how your child learns.
